How can i disinfect a dead raccoons tail!?

hi i need help with this Raccoon that we have killed it was eating our fish in our pond so we had to shoot it (sorry) my 13 year old daughter (as sick as this sounds) wanted to have a memory of the raccoon so we chopped its tail off for her and i dont want her catching any diseases so how do i get rid of them do i boil the tail?
