I have a recipe that calls for soybean paste, also interchangeable with a lot of bean and miso pastes. I bought one called Chu hou. When I looked it up it says it is made with garlic and ginger similar to hoisin sauce and is not interchangeable like the other bean pastes. However, this bottle does not contain garlic or ginger, only soy beans, wheat flour, peanut oil sugar and sesame. Am i able to use this for the recipes i need it for? Is it most likely just misnamed in translation from chinese to english (i did buy it in chinatown)
