Why Do We Flame?

So many of these "questions" are thinly veiled rants about something that gets our goat. I'm tempted to do it myself. Then the "answers" become the flame wars the "questions" were designed to incite. Why is this temptation there? Why are we so inclined to start childish arguing, even when it's uncalled for?
