NH4NO3 + HCl?????????????

I'm not sure, but both Ammonia and Chlorine bubble out of solutions pretty easily in reactions like this. impure nitric acid is brown, so you could have nitric acid. Nitric acid can react with copper very easily, producing brown nitric oxide gas. It's pretty dramatic, so you can try that.
